Student representative council

Cammeray Public School has a very active student representative council (SRC). Each year students and staff vote for Year 6 leaders to run the SRC. Every week, these leaders meet with SRC representatives from all classes. They discuss school issues, ranging from ideas for the playground to charities we would like to support.

Activities run by the SRC include raising money for our sponsored child in Mongolia and supporting charities such as Stewart House throughout the year. SRC committees also take responsibility for organising sport activities at recess and lunchtimes, as well as implementing and monitoring environmental initiatives and the talent quest in Term Four.

Minutes are kept of each meeting, and these are distributed to all classes to be read in fortnightly class meetings. Class SRC representatives can then take ideas from their class meetings to the SRC meeting.

SRC leaders also run fortnightly grade assemblies in Terms 1 and 2 and represent our school at community events.

SRC is a very important component of school life at Cammeray as it is a forum for all students to have a say and develop life-long leadership skills.

Students don't have to be school captains or house captains to be considered leaders. We encourage our students to be leaders in the classroom and playground, through their support for other students, or their involvement in academic, sporting, cultural or community events and projects.
