Community Events
Cammeray P&C hold a number of events throughout the year that the school community are invited to attend.
The focus of these events is not to raise funds, but rather facilitate social interaction across the school and acknowledge key celebrations across the year. That being said, surplus funds are often made at these events, which are directed back to school programs and or charities, or used to purchase much needed school items. The use of these funds is agreed within our parents and citizens association (P&C) meetings.
Representatives of the P&C oversee the coordination of each event with the assistance of a pre-selected year group via the class parent’s network.
Dependent upon the nature of the event, class parents (as well as any other representatives across the selected year group who are willing to help) coordinate such things as rosters, logistics, raffle, auction donations and promotional material.
Welcome BBQ
Usually held within the third or fourth week of school on a Friday evening, this is an opportunity for the entire school community to get together in an informal setting at the school for a sausage sizzle, listen to one of Cammeray Public Schools bands and peruse some stalls. This is a great way for new families to get to know others in a social setting and for returning families to catch up after the Christmas break.
Mothers' and Fathers' day breakfasts
To celebrate both Mother's day and Father's day we hold a breakfast (usually on a Friday morning) before school in May and September, where parents and kids can enjoy some time together over a bacon and egg roll, pastry and coffee (or hot chocolate for the kids). The kids usually have the chance to spend a few dollars if they wish and purchase a gift for their parent, and Mums and Dads are often rewarded with some great prizes from the raffle.
Trivia night
This is our school's only school wide parent only night of the year (with many more social occasions taking place within class or year groups).
Held at a local venue in one of the winter months, we have over 300 parents enjoy a great night together, testing their general knowledge skills in teams of 8 to 10.
Some great prizes are up for grabs on the night and you have the option of participating in a silent auction and or raffle if you wish.
Spring fair
As the name suggests, we hold an annual fair in spring (usually a Sunday in October) with stalls, rides, food, face painting, band and other performances. This is often used an opportunity for Year 6 to do some fundraising for their end of year farewell activities. Their involvement is decided on year-by-year basis.
